NRA Training Counselor

There Are 3 Steps To Become A Certified NRA Instructor, Regardless Of Experience:

  1. Complete the NRA Basic course (as an NRA Instructor, this will be the class you will be certified to teach - and the NRA wants everyone to see it as a 'student' first to ensure the standardization of it);
  2. Complete BIT (Basic Instructor Training) which teaches you how to teach, how to order materials, how to plan a class budget, NRA Programs, Policies + Procedures, and how to be an instructor (you only have to take BIT once if you take any additional NRA Instructor courses you are interested in within a 2-year period of taking your BIT class); and
  3. Complete the NRA Instructor course.

We will usually teach all 3 parts over 2 days.

On the first day we’ll cover the Basic course (which consists of classroom and range time). When we finish the Basic class, those who are continuing their coursework to become a certified NRA Instructor, will continue training with BIT course requirements.

On the second day we’ll complete BIT and cover the Instructor course requirements, including teach-back exercises.

Once you activate your new Instructor rating, as an NRA Instructor you will be certified and able to teach the NRA Basic course.

Course fee includes all training, materials, classroom and range fees, use of firearms and ammunition provided for the (Pistol and Rifle) classes.  Clays provided for shotgun classes (students bring their own shotgun ammo).

Courses are taught by 2 NRA Training Counselors (one a 30+-year retired Texas State Peace Officer; and the other with 25+ years employed by Texas to teach firearms training).  Class conducted in smoke-free classroom, and on a PRIVATE range with one-on-one attention. (You will not be rushed or distracted by the public or others shooting). This is YOUR time!

Payment reserves your Spot. We have FUN in my classes!

*NOTE:  We will provide up to 2 hours of private lessons at no charge – if you do not pass the required range qualification.  We emphasize SUCCESS in our classes and do everything we can to help our students pass the course and range qualification.  If you do not pass the range qualification and need those additional 2 hours, we ask that you provide your own firearm and ammo and pay your range fees.
