1. Complete the NRA Basic course (since as an NRA Instructor, this will be the class you will be certified to teach - and the NRA wants everyone to see it as a 'student' first and ensure the standardization of it);
2. Complete BIT (Basic Instructor Training) which teaches you how to teach, how to order materials, how to plan a class budget, NRA Programs, Policies + Procedures, and how to be an instructor ; and
3. Complete the NRA Instructor course.
I will usually teach all 3 parts over 2-days. On the first day we’ll cover the Basic course (which consists of classroom and range time). When we finish the Basic class, those who are continuing their coursework to become a certified NRA Instructor, will continue training with the next portion - BIT course requirements.
On the second day we’ll complete BIT and cover the Instructor course.
After you activate your new Instructor certification, as an NRA Instructor you will be certified and able to teach the NRA Basic course.
Cost includes classroom and range fees, use of firearms and ammunition for the classes.
NRA Credentialing Fees
After completion of the Instructor course, those who are Non-NRA Members pay their first Instructor credentialing fee of $60 to activate their NRA Instructor rating for a term of 2-years, to remain as an active NRA Instructor. Additional Instructor ratings can then be added at an activation fee of $30 per rating, regardless of how many ratings are being added.
After completion of the Instructor course, those who are NRA Members pay their first Instructor credentialing fee of $35 to activate their NRA Instructor rating for a term of 2-years to remain as an active NRA Instructor. Additional Instructor ratings can then be added at an activation fee of $15 per rating, regardless of how many ratings are being added.
At the end of 2-years, NRA Instructor ratings must be renewed to remain "active" as an NRA Instructor.
*Every 2 years, Non-NRA members pay one $60 fee to renew all of their Instructor certifications;
*Every 2 years, NRA members pay one $35 fee to renew all of their Instructor certifications.
