Prerequisite: MUST have an NRA Basic Pistol Certification (INSTRUCTOR LED course) AND completed the NRA CCW course. Without these certifications first, you cannot attend the workshop.
Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is also a prerequisite for enrolling in this course.
NOTE: Anyone interested in taking the NRA PPITH basic course must: be at least 21 years old, be legally allowed to possess and/or own a firearm, be a US Citizen and/or be Legal Resident residing in the United States. NO EXCEPTIONS As per the U.S. Department of State (ITAR-International Traffic in Arms Regulations).
Learn the defensive skills, strategies for home safety to protect self and family, and responding to a violent confrontation.
Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development.
Must bring to this class:
- Pistol appropriate for concealed carry – recommend minimum of 9mm or .38 Special
- Quality Strong Side OWB Hip Holster – recommend form fitted leather or kydex, must cover trigger + trigger guard
- Quality Belt, designed to carry a holster and a firearm
- 200 rounds of factory ammunition (no reloads)
- Spare magazines or speed loaders with appropriate pouches – at least two additional (3 total)
- Clothing appropriate for concealed carry
- Eye protection
- Hearing protection – recommend electronic muffs
