Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to renew and keep current their Private Security Level IV.

Description

A Commissioned Security Officer must complete continuing education requirements, including a firearms proficiency demonstration, and submit a renewal application to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Target Audience

Texas Private Security Level IV License Holders.

 

Course Goal

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to renew and keep current their Private Security Level IV.  The student will have an understanding of the legal authorities pertaining to Personal Protection Officer Commission and responsibilities and will be able to demonstrate proficiency in techniques and tactics necessary to carry out duties as a Commissioned Security Officer.

 

Course Prerequisites

Private Security Level IV certification.

 

Course Length

6 hours of Continuing Education with Proficiency Certification.

 

Course Topics

Topics include Laws, Field Notes and Report Writing, Crime Scene, Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Baton, and Final Exam.

 

Attendance

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process, and participants are expected to attend all class sessions.

Licenses are good for two (2) years from the date it is issued.

The officer must re-qualify every two (2) years with the re-certification course to stay armed and have an active commission card.

 

Cancellation Policy:  Students who cancel their reservation less than 7 days before the class, or “no-show” without notifying Instructors, will not be refunded.
