Overview of Level III

Level III certification is designed for commissioned security officers, granting them the authority to perform security duties while armed. This certification is mandatory for those who aim to carry firearms or other authorized defensive equipment during their work. Individuals pursuing this level of certification must meet stringent requirements and complete state-approved training programs to ensure the competency and legal knowledge necessary for carrying out their responsibilities.

  • Level III officers are permitted to carry firearms during their duties, provided they comply with Texas laws and regulations.
  • Extensive training in firearm handling, defensive tactics, and de-escalation techniques is required.
  • Officers must understand and adhere to laws governing the use of force and the rights of citizens.

You must be a registered employee of a state-licensed security company to work as a security officer in the state of Texas.

Upon successful completion of the training, a pocket card including name, photo, signature, date of issue and date of expiration will be issued and must keep on the security officer while on duty.
