NRA Pistol Instructor Course – Sun May 4, 2025 (BIT Sat May 3)

This course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course.  This is also a required certification to move forward along the pathway to become a Texas License to Carry (LTC) Instructor.

Prerequisite:  MUST attend NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course – INSTRUCTOR LED – before enrolling in this course.  Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is also a prerequisite for certification as an NRA Pistol Instructor.

NOTE:   Anyone interested in becoming an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor must: be at least 21 years old, be legally allowed to possess and/or own a firearm, the student must be a US Citizen and/or be Legal Resident residing in the United States. NO EXCEPTIONS As per the U.S. Department of State (ITAR-International Traffic in Arms Regulations). 

$280.00 is fee for Pistol Instructor course.  If you have not taken BIT within 2 years and need BIT, there is an additional $135.00 fee for BIT. 

Course fee covers all training, materials, class + range fees, use of firearms, and all ammo is provided.

Course taught by 2 NRA Training Counselors (John is a 30-year retired TX State Peace Officer; Heidi is 2022 NRA Industry Woman of the Year + 2023 NRA Marion P. Hammer Woman of Distinction Award Winner, and has 25+ yrs employed by Texas to teach firearms safety).

Taught in smoke-free classroom, and on PRIVATE range with one-on-one attention. (You will not be rushed or distracted by public or others shooting).

Certified instructor: 21 years of age or older

Assistant instructor: 18 years of age or older (allows youth to assist NRA Certified Pistol Instructors)

Apprentice instructor: 13-17 years of age (allows youth to assist NRA Certified Pistol Instructors)

Note:  This certification is required for registered Boy Scout Leaders to run a Boy Scout Pistol Range

Once you activate your NRA Pistol Instructor rating – this is the certification required and one of the steps in the process to become a Texas License to Carry (LTC) Instructor.

Cancellation Policy: Students who cancel their reservation less than 7 days before the class, or “no-show” without notifying Instructors, will not be refunded and will be credited towards a future class (within 6 months, depending on upcoming course schedule, and on a case-by-case scenario).
